Episode 2: Alix and Thomas's wedding

Hello Alix,

Thank you for agreeing to tell us about your wedding.

Who are you ? age, profession, city ...

I am 24 years old and I am a nurse in a clinic in Paris. As for my husband, who is 25, was still studying engineering in Bordeaux.

What time of year did you get married?

We got married on August 20, 2020.

Where ? Why ?

In Corsica in my father's native village. Having Corsican origins, it was unthinkable for me not to get married in the village.

What was the impact of the Covid on these preparations?

The Covid did not make things easier for us. Getting married in Corsica was no easy task, it is always easier to be there or to be able to go there frequently. We had to go there during the Easter holidays to prepare the garden, obviously with the covid, impossible to get there: we were then quite late ... But the hardest part was the uncertainty and the doubt: will we be able to get married? Should we have a plan B? How many people can we surround ourselves with? It turns out that we had to plan a plan B, C and even D, as if preparing for a wedding in normal times isn't enough already!

How much time did you have to organize all the preparations?

We announced our engagement in July 2019, so we had some time to organize it.

What was the easiest and the hardest part of the preparations?

We had pretty strong ideas about what we wanted, so we knew where to go. But the hardest part are really the little details that are added to the right, to the left. There is a common thread with several major items such as the organization of the mass, the procession, the photographer ... all you have to do is fill them out.

Did you have a theme or a color? why this choice ?

We didn't have a theme but we had a color, just for the bridesmaids, brothers and witnesses boys. We wanted there to be a wide variety of colors, especially in the dresses, but we still wanted the family to stand out. Our color was the incredible royal blue of Les Petits Choux de Bruxelles! I had done the Saint Pierre market several times in search of a royal blue and nothing was as pretty as Les Petits Choux de Bruxelles.

Was choosing your dress easy? which creator?

I started my fittings very quickly having no idea, and was worried I wouldn't find it. But from the first fitting I had my dress on, I was very well advised. My dress was an old model from Jesus Peiro that I had modified a bit.

Did you have honored children? How many? What ages? Girl boy?

We wanted a procession with a lot of children of honor, we were lucky to have 8. There were all ages, from 1 year to 8 years old, with 5 girls and 3 boys.

Which model (s) did you choose?

For the girls, it was the Ondine dress with a beautiful royal blue belt: they were lovely! And for our little boys the Peter Pan shirt and the Merlin bermuda shorts version, with a royal blue belt: it was adorable! We also ordered additional fabric to make our lavallières and bow ties so that they were exactly the same blue as the procession. And the little extra was the laces that matched the belt!

Did you take a photographer for the big day? would you recommend it?

Yes it is about yes photographe, which is really great, she agreed to travel to Corsica and was great throughout the wedding! We were a little apprehensive because we were both absolutely uncomfortable behind the lens and finally as if nothing had happened.

Did you have any entry music for dinner? if yes which one ? why this choice ?

Yes we had chosen the harmony of Pomarez, in Emilie's eyes it was incredible, what an atmosphere !!! It was important for us that the entry music was known so that everyone felt concerned. Our DJ had to put it on twice and even find another music because everyone was “on fire” as they say.

What special arrangements have you made to reassure your guests?

We went to buy 5L of hydroalcoholic gel which was distributed all over the garden for cocktails and dinner as well as at the entrance to the church. And we had also bought 300 masks even though most of the guests came with theirs. In addition, we had everything planned outdoors, which reassured our guests a lot, the weather had to be absolutely right (thank you, the Poor Clares !!).

Assessment of this unique day?

Everything was perfect !

Best memories ?

It's very hard to find a particular memory because everything goes so quickly, it's not a myth!

If you had to do it again, what would you do differently?

We wouldn't change a thing, our wedding was wonderful and we were surrounded by all our friends and family who made the trip.
