Episode 4

Clémence and Louis wedding

Hello Clémence,

Thank you for agreeing to tell us about your marriage.

Who are you ? age, profession, city ...

I am Clémence, 26 year old Frenchwoman who has been living in Brussels for 3 years. By training I am a psychologist but now I work as a recruiter and sales person in an IT consulting company.

When did you get married?

Our wedding took place in France, at the end of August 2020.

Where ? Why ?

We got married next to the Chateau de Chambord et de Blois in the Pays de la Loire region of France, in the church where my own parents were married 30 years earlier, where my brother also got married a few years ago.

What was the impact of the Covid on these preparations?

Stressful. We had to put the wedding preparations on hold for 3 months, during confinement. Post containment, we decided to relaunch preparations as if the wedding was really going to take place, but nothing was less certain. A week before the wedding, we weren't sure if we were going to keep it going. Fortunately we were pretty well organized so as not to stress on too many subjects at the same time!

How much time did you have to organize all the preparations?

In theory we should have had 9 months, but concretely - because of COVID - we had 6 months.

What was the hardest part of the preparations?

Communication with our respective parents. There are big choices at the start of the preparations (caterer, tent, etc.) and then there are “small” details that make up all the charm and originality of a wedding. The little details came to an end but ended up being quite stressful.

Did you have a theme or a color? why this choice?

Our wedding revolved around the color of clay. On the other hand, just the children of honor, the witnesses wore that touch of color. We agreed on a decoration that revolved around 'raw' colors: clay, green for the plants and white for the flowers.

Was choosing your dress easy? which creator?

I chose to have my dress made to measure in Paris with a designer called David Purves After going through several stores, I was really afraid that I would not be 100% happy with my dress. After chatting 5 minutes with David, he made me try a pattern and I fell in love with the model right away! Then, we customized it according to my tastes! He was very attentive.

Did you have any honored children?

How many? 6

what ages? Between 4 and 9 years old

girls and boys ? 2 girls and 4 boys

Which model (s) did you choose?

Cléophée dress for girls

Bermuda Merlin, Peter Pan shirt for boys

The children were amazed by their outfits that they could easily reuse!

Did you take a photographer for the big day? would you recommend it?

We chose a couple of photographer Sébastien and Roxanne who have their company called twointheroom. They are excellent I highly recommend them.

Did you have any entry music for dinner? if yes which one ? Why this choice ?

We entered the tent on Aznavour, “Take me”. It’s a song that has passed through the generations and that has touched my husband and me immensely.

What special arrangements have you made to reassure your guests?

We have asked all of our guests to do a pre-wedding PCR test. We took a larger tent than expected and the cocktail party was in the open air. We set up tables that could hold 10 people but only placed 8 people.

The elderly at risk were in a separate room.

Assessment of this unique day?

It was a magical day! As everything was well prepared (the timing in the photos, everyone's movements), we were able to enjoy and our family and friends could also enjoy. It was quite reassuring to have everyone tested.

Best memories ?

The exchange of vows of course! It was a very emotional moment. After, the cocktail in front of my childhood home with my husband by my side and all our smiling friends and families. It was magical.

If you had to do it again, what would you do differently?

Nothing at all ! We were able to enjoy our day and our guests, without being called upon all the time. I have wonderful memories of it.
