The groom

Let's face it, in most cases, they let us organise the wedding however we want. But let's not forget to give them the tasks that are theirs to do.

Before detailing these testosterone-fuelled missions, we wanted to ‘discuss’ with you what they should wear on the big day.

THE PRINCE'S OUTFIT

Jacket or suit?

While we approve of both, our hearts lean towards the suit. Navy blue, of course, will make your dearest look slim and elegant.

Our Belgian friends can add a twist with a bright jacket in the colours or patterns of your theme.

Tie or bow tie?

If there is a morning coat, the cravat, while remaining classic, can be personalised and matched to the children of honour. Les Petits Choux often take on this task to match the groom or witnesses with the wedding party, in the fabric of your choice.

Although anything goes in the 21st century, the tie generally wins hands down. Understated, chic, classic and modern all at once, it dresses our men with just the right touch of elegance.

Matching pocket square? Why not! It will make him and his groomsmen more easily identifiable and stand out.

Haircut and manly beard

Is getting a haircut the day before your wedding a good idea? We seriously doubt it... Whether it's a political statement or an act of independence, this hot topic sometimes divides opinion.

If he has hair, for goodness' sake, let him wear it with pride. There'll be plenty of time for baldness later. Just look at Prince Harry ;)

Finding your man on the big day at the altar is impressive enough, so not really recognising your loved one because he's had a haircut could be even more upsetting.

If he usually sports a surfer's mane, let him keep it! And let's be honest, it's pretty sexy and cute. Besides, you show him off on your Instagram account with his crazy hair, and his tousled locks are precisely what you love about him.

Close shave or hipster beard? The same goes for this highly masculine area of expression; a close shave when you've always known him to be bearded may even be disappointing. Prepare your mother (your future mother-in-law) now for what is to come! ‘And besides, he looks so much like Guillaume Canet or Edouard Baer, don't you think? ;)’ Your father, the commander-in-chief, will also have to bow down to this confident facial hair. Baby-soft skin will be for your children.

There's no doubt that in his wedding suit and with his faux messy hair, he'll make you melt, and secretly your mum too ;)

Black or dark brown shoes? Either is fine, with a slight preference for brown, which is less formal but still super chic. Socks that match your tie and/or pocket square will add a subtle pop of colour to your theme.

Top hat or panama hat? A top hat is appropriate if the groom is wearing a morning suit. But if he's wearing a suit, a panama hat can be charming. That said, in both cases, headwear is not mandatory. The only goal is to feel confident and comfortable!

HIS ROLES

Now let's move on to his roles, which are not insignificant.

The driver: It's up to them to choose the right car, whether it's a vintage sports car, a state-of-the-art convertible or a classic family saloon. They usually know more about this than we do. But let's avoid big bows on the bonnet and tassels on the wing mirrors – it's not a doll, it's a car!

The person who decides on the entrance music: what a dream moment! Yes, we know you love Vianney and Britney Spears, but let's be serious, you have to let go on this one. Less cheesy, more rock, more 2022 is good too ;)

The person who chooses the DJ: let them take care of the turntables and choose the DJ. They'll feel ‘respected,’ but on your end, discreetly prepare a slightly girly playlist so you can let loose with your friends. It's called ‘compromise’ ;)

The one who drinks; He also gets to choose the alcohol: we're not talking about the choice of champagne and wine served at the table, which will divide the lovely families. Avoid this trap and entrust him with the festive drinks for the cocktail party and the evening. It's also up to him to manage the offensive with the families to assess the quantities, and good luck with that!

The one who manages the annoying friend: There's always one who will make you uncomfortable, whether it's your friend, cousin, or brother ;) scruffy from the cocktail party onwards, embarrassing during a speech, an annoying flirt, too talkative... your man will have to keep his eyes open and manoeuvre while remaining elegant and kind.

The one who leads the dance: The tradition of the first dance is a daunting task. Whether it's a waltz or a slow dance, choreographed or a flash mob, he won't be able to escape a few practice sessions to ensure that this moment is glamorous and charming.

The one who speaks: Will there be speeches by the bride and groom? If so, it's often him who takes the microphone, as we are often too emotional. And let him not forget a few kind words for mum and mother-in-law, as this will earn him bonus points for later ;)

Whatever happens, on that day you will be proud and can finally say ‘my husband’!
